Mobile telecommunication subscribers in Indonesia increase very fast lately especially to the data and voice services e.g. mobile broadband internet service. This situation should be anticipated by telecommunication companies so then they have sufficient network capacity to handle high traffic come from mobile telecommunication subscribers. Telecommunication services which provided by telecommunication companies also more attractive and various such as Value Added Service (VAS) and mobile broadband internet service.
High demand from mobile telecommunication subscribers on the mobile broadband internet service definitely produces more revenue to the telecommunication companies even though some of telecommunication companies campaigned cheap tariffs to one or more their telecommunication services especially to the data and voice services. To give better telecommunication services especially to the data and voice services e.g. mobile broadband internet service to the mobile telecommunication subscribers, telecommunication companies should make sure that telecommunication infrastructures able to handle huge traffic come from subscribers. Usually telecommunication companies will enhance their telecommunication infrastructure with many methods to optimize data and voice services such as:
1. Deploying VOIP service to handle long distance call
Once voice traffic increase very fast especially long distance call, telecommunication companies will face critical issue that is link transmission to carry out the traffic from mobile telecommunication subscribers. More over, usually telecommunication companies did not have transmission backbone such as optical or Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) networks. Deploying Voice over IP (VOIP) network to handle long distance call is a make sense solution. With the VOIP network, the same mount of link transmission could carry out more than four times traffic from mobile telecommunication service compared to traditional call
2. Applying data optimization on the data service environment
The main problem on data service e.g. mobile broadband internet service is issue on Radio Frequency (RF) capacity which reserve channels for data service from mobile telecommunication service especially to the telecommunication companies which did not dedicated allocation for data service. Beside RF issue, internet bandwidth also shares the problem on data service. Telecommunication companies used to optimize the entire of data service environment with data optimization which will be applied on the client (mobile telecommunication subscribers) or data service infrastructures. Data optimization could be inserting new device such as data accelerator and bandwidth management on the mobile broadband internet service.
The goal of deploying VOIP and applying data optimization is mobile telecommunication subscribers will experience better telecommunication services
