To meet mobile telecommunication subscribers which always grow up, each of telecommunication companies should plan their telecommunication infrastructures to have smooth processing while they should migrate to the next technology. High demand on broadband internet service either 3G or EVDO service is giving new opportunity for each telecommunication companies to provide broadband internet service instead of traditional wireless internet service e.g. CDMA 1x Rtt and GPRS. High demand on broadband internet service is also giving a challenge for each telecommunication companies especially to provide smooth migration from the traditional network to the next generation network. There are many things need to be prepare once telecommunication plan to migrate current technology to the next technology generation.
The first thing, they should decide which the next technology proper to the current one. Suppose, telecommunication companies have CDMA platform and CDMA 1xRtt is the technology to provide wireless internet service, then the proper next technology is EVDO (Evolution Data Only/Optimized). CDMA 1xRtt technology will give limited speed (153 kbps) to wireless internet subscriber. It is not recommended speed to compete with telecommunication companies which offer broadband internet service with 3G platform. Migrating to the EVDO technology is the best solution to give high speed internet experience to the mobile internet service
The second thing is trial EVDO technology to the existing CDMA 1xRtt platform. Trial is intended to identify whether any interoperability issue between CDMA 1xRtt with EVDO platform. Usually telecommunication companies will assign particular Base Transceiver Station (BTS) and Base Station Controller (BSC) with Public Data Service Node (PDSN) which already have EVDO license. EVDO platform should give high speed internet experience up to 2.7 Mbps while testing. EVDO is the next generation of CDMA 1x platform and it means there will be no significant changing on the current telecommunication infrastructure while they deploy EVDO platform
The third is upgrading the current CDMA 1x platform to the EVDO platform. EVDO is high speed internet access which requires high capacity on each network element which supports it. Network element which should be upgraded to the high capacities is Base Transceiver Station (BTS), backbone transmission and internet gateway.
