AT&T to launch LTE Sunday, Sept 18: LTE Modem devices
Mobile broadband providers should aware about broadband technology revolution to accommodate customer’s need or enhance their service. Therefore migration to the next broadband technology such as Long Term Evolution (LTE) is something they have to do immediately. The latest news is coming from AT&T, one of the biggest mobile broadband providers in USA that plan to launch LTE on Sunday, Sept 18. By launching this technology AT&T expects that customers will get new experience while browse internet from their dongle/modem or smartphone such as Android, iPad or Blackberry. Reported by fiercewireless.com, a plan to launch LTE was said by AT&T CFO John Stephens during an appearance at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch Media, Entertainment & Communications conference.
Customers will get more speed while using LTE technology; they can do several services at the same time without any delay response such as download huge file, video conference, Youtube and streaming video. As part of the first launch, AT&T plan to launch LTE service is some cities in USA such as Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio. AT&T expects to deploy LTE across 70 million POPs in 15 markets by year-end. Previously AT&T has launched two LTE devices to the market. Those two LTE devices are made by Sierra Wireless that available for $49.99 and $69.99 with 2 years contract after a $50 mail-in rebate. Those two LE devices are USB Connect Momentum 4G modem and the Mobile Hotspot Elevate 4G. Still taken from fiercewireless.com, AT&T also said that its HSPA+ USB modem, the USBConnect Adrenaline from LG, could be upgraded to LTE starting Aug. 26 via a software update.
With huge potential customer that may come while you have LTE technology, mobile broadband provider should prepare to provide more devices instead of modem/dongle, smartphone or hot spot. To prepare this plan, AT&T has launched LTE tablet, the HTC Jetstream, for $700 with a two-year contract or $850 without a contract.
