Optus Starts Trials of LTE Network in 700Mhz Bands supplied by Huawei
LTE will drive mobile broadband customer soon to enrich existing broadband technology and replace them as well. Many broadband providers are ready migrating their existing technology with LTE. Understand that they should invest some additional hardware and software to update or replace legacy technology to serve LTE. This is a risk they should take to offer LTE service to their customer and compete with another broadband provider that already run LTE to get much benefit for their customer especially high speed internet access. Optus, one of the broadband providers in Australia understand this situation and now they decide to make trial of LTE network in 700 Mhz bands. It has been informed by celluar-news.com that this LTE trail is carried out in Bendigo where analogue television service has been closed down. To support this LTE trial, Optus work with Huawei to supply LTE equipment. Huawei in one of the manufacture that provide broadband equipment to many providers in the world
Managing director of Optus said that this LTE trial is to test variety of commercially customer devices that operate that 700Mhz band including smartphone and Wi-Fi hotspots. Once they succeed, Optus plan to serve LTE service with variety of services such as IPTV, TV mobile, high speed internet access via mobile and home broadband and many more. Huawei has agreed to support Optus plan and ready to supply LTE equipment in the area required by Optus
Still taken from cellular-new.com, Optus said that they use the trial to measure how 700 Mhz LTE technology performs in term of speed and coverage when compare to other LTE technology. Optus said that “Another key component of the trial will be the ability to test a variety of current Optus services and applications including smartphone apps, mobile TV services, IPTV, low-latency gaming and HD video conferencing within an LTE environment.”
