Telecommunication companies should take some necessary action while they provide Data Service to their mobile telecommunication subscribers including migrate the current telecommunication technology to the latest one. Data Service requires subscriber satisfaction and to meet this requirement high speed internet access experience will be the first priority while subscribers decide to use Data Service provided by telecommunication companies. Evolution of telecommunication technology in Indonesia is running very well and there are many implemented the latest telecommunication technology there.

1. Internet access through Public Switching Telephone Network (PSTN)

It was there is only one telecommunication service which only provided Data Service through Public Switching Telephone Network (PSTN) in Indonesia. Therefore Data Service was provided refer PSTN service. 2. CDMA1x 2000 and GPRS

CMDA 1x 2000 and GPRS are giving very limited internet access (115 kbps). CDMA1x 2000 and GPRS are the first Data Service provided by telecommunication companies while GSM and CDMA platforms introduced in Indonesia. In these platforms, mobile telecommunication subscriber will still face slow speed while accessing internet service especially during peak hour. Telecommunication companies usually did not separate between voice and data channel that is why CDMA1x 2000 and GPRS is getting slow speed. Bakrie Telecom, Smart Telecom and Starone are providing CDMA1x 2000 to their subscribers. Meanwhile Telkomsel, XL and Indosat are still providing GPRS service even though they already 3G service

3. 3G service

Next evolution of telecommunication technology on the GSM platform is 3G service which giving broadband internet access to the subscriber up to 7 Mbps. Telkomsel, XL and Indosat are telecommunication companies which provided 3G service

4. EVDO service

EVDO is new evolution of telecommunication technology on the CDMA platform. EVDO is giving broadband internet access as 3G services which up to 7 Mbps. Smart Telecom is the only telecommunication company in Indonesia which provided EVDO service

5. WIMAX Service

WIMAX service will come soon in Indonesia. There are some new telecommunication companies and existing one will provide WIMAX service and
