Ring Back Tone (RBT) Service is part of Value Added Service (VAS) through mobile internet service which means that it is running through the existing network infrastructures as the Voice Call, Data Service through mobile internet service and messagging. To enable this service, telecommunication company need only to insert new application system which responsible to process and manage the request from subscribers. Application system is integrated with Mobile Switching Centre (MSC). While a session is going on (someone make a call), the MSC will forward the tone request to the RBT application system and then application system will response the request by appearing the Ring Back Tone has been chosen by subscriber (B number)

There are many types how to register to this service. Usually Telecommunication Company applied two mechanisms, they are;

1. Sending a message (SMS) with a certainty format to a certainty destination number (usually Short Code number). Subscriber also can change the Ring Back Tone (RBT) they want to by sending the same format message
2. Calling a certainty destination number and then will interact with Interact Voice Response (IVR). Subscriber need only to follow the instruction to get a desired Ring Back Tone (RBT)

Generally, there are three parties which involved two the Ring Back Tone (RBT) services; they are;

1. Telecommunication Company
2. Content Provider (CP) and
3. Music recorder (Label).

Meanwhile there are two types of mechanism how they can work then Ring Back Tone (RBT) can be received on the mobile phone subscribers, they are;

1. Telecommunication Company provide the system to enable this service and the second,
2. Content Provider (CP) provide the system to enable this service after they lease a specific Short Code (SC) to the telecommunication company

Most of Content Providers (CP) prefer to choose the first option (telecommunication company provide the system application) rather than second one. In this scenario Content Provider will only manage the content (songs) they already received from the music recorder. Once the new songs are coming, they will update the contents immediately and inform to the telecommunication company that some new songs have been released. Meanwhile if Content Provider (CP) provides the application system they should buy a Short Code (SC) and subscribers need to register via message (SMS) before the Ring Back Tone (RBT) was delivered to their mobile phone number. It is more complicate to manage application system operated by Content Provider (CP) rather than managed by Telecommunication Company. Content Provider need to synchronize their application so then once subscriber send a message to their Short Code (SC) the application will notice and forward the correct Ring Back Tone as requested by subscriber
