Bundling mobile phone is giving many benefits to telecommunication companies, mobile telecommunication subscribers in Indonesia and manufactures (vendors). Bundling mobile phone is mobile phone that has been built by manufactures (vendors) some requirements requested by telecommunication companies. Bundling mobile phones existed due to telecommunication companies plan to promote a new product and service which has some features but those will be embedded on the special mobile phone. Mobile telecommunication subscribers will not find the same features on the others mobile phone when they search it on the market

The key points while telecommunication companies plan to launch bundling mobile phone are some certainty features and manufactures (vendors). Some certainty features are provided by telecommunication companies in Indonesia which will be available on this mobile phone. These features such as accessing Facebook on the new mobile phone ESIA GAYAKU launched by Bakrie Telecom, Instant Messaging (IM) through mobile phone provided by Telkomsel, BlackBerry service provided by several GSM telecommunication companies e.g. Telkomsel, Indosat, XL and CDMA platform e.g. Smart Telecom. Special features are also available on the mobile phone with embedded BREW service provided by Bakrie Telecom where through this mobile phone; subscriber will be permitted to access many features available on this bundling mobile phone.

The second thing is manufacture (vendor) who deploys the bundling mobile phone. Manufactures will build bundling mobile phone requested by telecommunication companies after they receive some features to be embedded on this bundling mobile phone. Bundling mobile phone which has high demand in Indonesia market are BlackBerry services provided by GSM and CDMA telecommunication companies and BREW service provided by Bakrie Telecom. Meanwhile the manufactures to build BlackBerry service is Research In Motion (RIM) and Huawei which build BREW service for Bakrie Telecom.

Almost telecommunication companies in Indonesia either GSM platform e.g. Telkomsel, Indosat, XL and CDMA platform e.g. Bakrie Telecom, Smart Telecom, Telkom are providing bundling mobile phone to their subscribers with many attractive features

It was that Telecommunication Company prefers to use single network infrastructures platform rather than multi vendors. The reason is easy to manage and it can reduce difficulty while they want to create many products and services such as mobile internet service. With “turn key” project, a vendor can deploy end to end telecommunication infrastructures at the short time according to the schedule. It will have different result while the use multi vendor to their telecommunication infrastructures which used to generate complicated deployment especially while they have different standardization

Applying multi vendor sometime generate many complicated during integrating many telecommunication service such as mobile internet service. The many cases happen while Huawei platform integrate with another platform. Huawei is most popular platform right especially in Asia since few years ago. It has eliminated many Europe and USA platform such as NOKIA, SIEMENS, NORTELL, ALCATEL and ERICSSON. At the first telecommunication booming in Indonesia, Europe and USA telecommunication platform was being the first option while they want to deploy telecommunication services. Usually there will be no issue while both platform USA and Europe was integrated due to some reason. Few years later, Huawei platform is growing fast and almost all telecommunication companies are using their platform either partial or entire of telecommunication infrastructures

In many cases, Huawei is deploying their own telecommunication standardization and it is generating a problem while they want to be integrated to different platform. For example while you want to integrating Huawei Base Station Controller (BSC) to the Nortell Public Data Service Node (PDSN). Huawei has many attribute in the BSC which did not comply with 3GPP2 standardization such as naming how to identify each BSC which converted to hexadecimal format. If they refer this requirement to 3GPP2 standardization there will be difficulty while they want to be integrated. As the result, to resolve this issue, there should be modification at the opponent. It may a minor issue which means tolerable referring to 3GPP2 standardization but it generate an issue and take a long time to identify the problem and finding the solution. As the result, there will be a delay to launch a new telecommunication service such as mobile internet service

The same issue is almost not occurring to the each Europe or USA platform while they are integrating. Both platforms have a smooth migration while Telecommunication Company plans to integrate. The main issue to them is very costly compare to Huawei platform. In addition, cheap tariff to any telecommunication service is the most campaign offered by each telecommunication companies right now, reducing the cost of deployment of infrastructures is a good decision to compete with another one. Huawei is becoming a good solution in this situation

Telecommunication Company can not run the entire of telecommunication services without supporting from one or more three parties companies. The three parties companies which required for supporting Telecommunication Company at least two companies, they are called as vendors and content providers

1. Vendor company

Vendor is responsible to provide network infrastructures needed by Telecommunication Company to run a telecommunication service. Right now there are many types of support given by vendors to the telecommunication company. It was that Telecommunication Company should buy the entire of network infrastructures they will deploy. Vendor will responsible to install and maintain by contract agreement for certainty period and once the contract agreement is over, they can extend or cut it. In this scenario Telecommunication Company should invest much money to buy all of telecommunication infrastructures and they could come from. The infrastructures they should buy e.g. Home Location Register (HLR), Home Visitor Register (VLR), Mobile Switching Centre (MSC), more than a thousand Base Transceiver Station (BTS), Base Station Controller (BSC), Short Messaging Service Centre (SMSC), transmission system etc. they are needed to support the core network of telecommunication service and still many else needed to support more services

The new scenario is called Managed Service (MS). In this scenario vendor responsible to plan, install, operate and maintain the entire of telecommunication network day to day. Some Telecommunication Company make a deal with them that vendor should invest their equipment and share revenue they achieve. On the Managed Service (MS) scenario, Telecommunication Company will focus to create a telecommunication products and services and trying to get subscribers as many as possible

2. Content Providers (CP)

Content Providers responsible to provide many services offered by Telecommunication Company to their subscribers such as download content service. They also provide applications needed by Telecommunication Company to support their services such as Customer Relationship Management (CRM) application, call centre purpose. The types of cooperation also could many ways. Some of them should deploy their own application and some should just provide the contents

Actually, there are more three parties involved to the telecommunication business such as sub contractor whom usually responsible to install the telecommunication equipments
