Wireless Internet Access – Providers and Wireless Services

High mobility on mobile/wireless internet service and high demand from mobile telecommunication subscribers encourage telecommunication companies and wireless internet provider to improve the service. Mobile/wireless internet service allow mobile telecommunication subscriber to access email and web browsing from their mobile phone. There are several mobile/wireless internet access which can be utilized by telecommunication companies and mobile internet access. They are:

1.         Satellite Internet Access

Satellite Internet Access is used to use by telecommunication companies and Internet Service Provider (ISP) to provide fix and mobile/wireless internet service. However, telecommunication companies used to use satellite as the backup access once the primary access is going down. The primary access is optical fiber or high capability Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) up to 1 Giga bytes

2.        Wi-Fi Hotspot

Wi-Fi hostspot is used to use by Internet Service Provider (ISP) to provide wireless internet service on the particular area and limited coverage

3.         Celluar Internet Access

Telecommunication companies through their network can provide massive mobile/wireless internet service to the mobile telecommunication subscribers.  There are many kind of mobile/wireless internet service which can be provided by telecommunication companies based the technology platform they adopted. Telecommunication companies with CDMA platform will introduce CDMA 1x to provide mobile/wireless internet service. Meanwhile GSM platform will introduce GPRS to provide mobile/wireless internet service.

Technology platform that used by telecommunication companies is very critical to provide mobile/wireless internet service. To provided high speed internet access, telecommunication companies should migrate the current technology (CDMA 1x and GPRS) to the next generation platform. High speed internet access refers to term mobile broadband which allow mobile telecommunication subscriber to get speed up to 3 Mbps and more. Depending on the network platform, telecommunication companies should migrate to the mobile broadband technologies such as EVDO, HSPA, WiMax and LTE
